I'm not sure this is true. I think the crocs have a taste for Germans. Americans obviously don't taste good enough.

But then again, that in itself might be a reason for the seasoning.

Could be that Americans just have more sense than to go into Croc infested waters too!

Those nasty drop bears like to gather around croc infested water too. Forget about the crocs, it is the drop bears you should be looking out for.
