Christmas trees...lighted or not?
We have a lighted tree, but it's awful. It's so old that the stickers to match the plugs together are falling off so there is no easy way to figure out the right way to hook them up. After about an hour of fighting with the tree we gave up and will try again tomorrow. I wonder if it would be easier to get a non-lit tree instead. Right now our tree is half lit and my arms are all scratched up. Ugh.

I haven't done Christmas trees in years so I can't say as far as the electrical wiring. What I can say is that every year houses burn to the ground because of Christmas trees with faulty wiring catching fire. For example ;

Thanked: 1263Wow..life is rough for some people. With my tree I actually have to put the lights on separately. It usually takes me a couple hours just to do the lights alone. All in the spirit of Christmas I guess

A Christmas tree needs lights. Sorry.
And personally I'd prefer multicolore lights (a string of blue, green, red, yellow, etc) but the Mrs. strongly disapproves of that. I also prefer the ornaments to be a collection of everything you built up over the years. 'Balls' in the shape of a small tree, a car, a trumpet, whatever. Everything that a kid could like. And then every year you add something as well. Sadly, the Mrs. disapproves of that as well. With her, the tree needs a 'theme'. for example, last year the theme was 'blue and silver'. And nothing so childish as trees or trumpets or santa gets hung in there. And of course, I'd prefer an actual tree but... (you can fill in the rest by now )
But as they say: happy wife happy life. And the issue is not important enough for me to argue so I just let her have her way with the decoration of the tree. At least it has lights.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

A Christmas tree without lights is just a tree.
decorating the tree with all the trimmings on the 23, after the kids have gone to bed, is a big part of our tradition.
I found a lovely tree this weekend, it is sitting outside to stay fresh until it is time to decorate itBjoernar
Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

yes, and the trees should have real lights like in the old days real candles.

And i thought i was the only one still using traditiona candles. but then again the house is in the "historic area" so i had to remodel it without electricity, running water or central heating.... so a little christmas tree fire makes it toasty inside
naturally there were no such restrictions on what i could do with the barn

Thanked: 1936My wife does the tree & I keep the peace by simply stating it's nice no matter if I like it or not. I'm not sure how many we have, but I have my own we put on the mantle every year...a Charlie Brown tree, literally. I think we change the ball every year, but I love it.
I don't think any of our trees, are pre-litSoutheastern Oklahoma/Northeastern Texas helper. Please don't hesitate to contact me.
Thank you and God Bless, Scott

Bruno, so I'm guessing the Christmas Pickle ornament is verboten then.
