Down there between your legs, it is like an entertainment complex in the middle of the sewage system. Who designed that?

I think that Gil Scott Heron - a personal favorite of mine might have put your sentiments into a poem:
And then put some music to it...

Organics found on Mars!
Interesting concept. I often take this stance with the homeless in my town. We send money to charities, missionary trips to countries that sometimes don't even want us there. And yet, here in our own towns, people starve. The idea has bothered me since high school. But I focus on these problems because I have never left my home. Perhaps my views would change if I went to another country...
It's just corn syrup... Warm, blood flavored, corn syrup ...

Well, I have lived in seven cities in two countries on two continents since leaving my home town for the first time, and I still volunteer as an editor with an organization back there that helps with inner-city issues such as homelessness and hunger. It is something that has always bothered me as well, so while moving around can give added perspective, it doesn't necessarily mean you would ignore what is going on closer to home. Whether or not *you* are 'home'.
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

Man I have lived all over the place... Came from some money but been poor all the same, been ok too. Not sure how much that all matters in my case.
After rereading my posts on this thread (knowing my intent) while listening to my man "Gil," I wonder when it was... that I became so incredibly tight-... starts with an A, and ends with two s's followed by an ed.
Seriously - I think I need to take some time to step back lol.David

It's a matter of scale and proportion. It is disingenuous when arguing that US cannot afford a particular program (say PBS, Planned Parenthood, NASA, etc.) to ignore programs which are thousands and millions times larger while simultaneously completely out of proportion with the objective needs of the country (military spending).
Yeah, I may not understand 'but they attacked us', however I do pay for it and I understand how disproportionate the US military power is compared to anything really. I am old and cynical but I don't see why US has to light the fuse and then absorb the blow from centuries worth of problems in places like Iraq.
When US cannot afford everything it wants, it's time to prioritize. First of all I would say do not eat your seeds, i.e. comparatively small investments with big payback ought to be preserved, until everything else is gone and you're just trying to prolong survival for few more days.
I'd say start by cutting on the plasma TV and eating at McDonalds.
