Pffft those were Mk-82's. They are only 500lbs. You should have seen the Mk-84's! They weighed in at 2K lbs. Those big SOB's made a BIG impression went they went off. I've been within a half mile of a stick of 'em coming home to roost. Impressive is an understatement.

We could load 12 Mk-82's on that rack. Only 3 Mk-84's. We loaded Mk-82's by hand. Anything bigger and we had to break out the lifts. Two of us would jerk the bomb loose from the sled and get it high enough for two more guys to lock their arms under it and hoist it the rest of the way. We'd take turns "pulling nose's and tail's" as we called the first part of the lift. Yank til ya get tired and swap out or you'd hurt yourself or your buddies. I was doing the final arming in that pick. I was installing the arming wires in those M904E2 nose fuzes.

Funny how I can remember that number after 45 years and I forget my anniversary..

REAL men play Hurling. They're ALL amateur and don't get paid either.

Good way to get a frontal lobotomy if ya ask me... It's fun to watch.

Always thought Hurling involved a big white porcelain bowl and was not a very manly sport. Ya learn something new every day.

This is my game, and no padding or helmets certainly sorts the Men from the Girls.

How many other sports allow one the opportunity to have one's throat slit?

Holy cow!!! And that is why I stay off the ice...

Only team sport I ever seriously played was paintball. None of that speedball/30 shots a second crap with the foam armor and neon colors either. Woods ball and scenario style. But mostly woods. Much more fun to hunt something that shoots back.

One of the old time Hurling players had the top of his skull taken off. That's why they relented and started wearing helmets.

Both games are rough as Hell.

Rugby and Aussie rules football ain't for sissies either.

    That "footie" is mayhem!
