I seriously bad eyesight & did not realize it until the military signed me at age 17. They fitted me with glasses & I wore them through boot camp , then I got contacts. In 1995 I had RK (radial keratotomy ) surgery & walked out in 15 minutes with wonderfull long distance vision, even to this day it's great. Now I use reading glasses for up close reading, but I can hone without glasses. :shrug:
Other than my son, the greatest thing I ever did.
I had the opportunity to have it done when I was in uniform for FREE. I declined. The doc that was going to give the referral also was given the option of the surgery. He declined as well. Not saying it is bad, it is just not for me. I wear glasses and contacts and have for a long time. I had a supervisor who did it and after the surgery he had to start wearing reading glasses. Never had to before, but after the surgery he had to wear them forever after that. Also light sensitivity was another reason I was reluctant.
Since being in law enforcement, eyesight was very important to me. So about 13 yrs ago I went out and had LASIK done. Prior to the surgery I couldn't see long distance. After the surgery my eyesight was great. I was 20/15 for about 12 yrs, now I'm 20/20. Like anything else the doc states with time it will wear off but I can have a touch up. All I can say is look into the doctors ur thinking about using.. But all in all it was great!!

I have considered this several times over the years, but the horror stories I've read always turn me off. I like my glasses, but wouldn't it be great to wake up in the morning and see? Or how about hitting the beach and not having to worry about sandy contacts or ocean/lake water getting in your eyes. Never mind a swimming pool. Those of you who've done this long term and had success certainly are encouraging. I have a friend who did this back in the mid-90s. To this day he claims it was the best thing he's ever done. I should ask my specialist, as I have high pressure in my eyes that I control with drops (could lead to glaucoma), so I'm not sure if I'm a suitable candidate for this sort of surgery.
Hmm laser eye treatment.
Anyone see the last final destination movie? The scene with the gal getting lasik?
