Fun to laugh at but I spent 2 and a half solid hours Friday on a five year old 6 inch buffer of theirs spinning a 8 inch buff with Bobbing compound against ¼ pound chunks of brass and taking them from a lathe finish to a high polish.. Crap? Yup I have another one at home just like it. I have been doing this to the poor misguided HF 6 inch about ten times a year since new and it resides in a gunsmith's shop and get an even heavier workout from them! My "cheapo" HF power hand held metal bandsaw is going on for 15 years now. The buffer accessories at HF are about 20% less than what I can buy on line, Most of my small power tools over the years are HF and I have had very good luck with them. YMMV but with a full refund? why not try them if you have one in town or close by. The stuff is cheap and can be tossed if it breaks after years.
Stanley and DeWalt are now being made off shore; what is your gripe! The only folks of their companies in the US are the CEOs and accountants with a few shipping personnel. Yes there is money in someones pocket that isn't taxed? But the HF company does pay taxes and, probably, employs more people in more cities of this country than the so called "American tool" companies these days! Most small businesses start and often continue with the HF tools, same as, but occasionally slightly lower quality than the Jet who every one sells under their store logo. And, you would be surprised how many other "American" brands are from the same factories in China and Mexico. Don't matter why, it makes sense to use our personal money wisely!
So kvetch or try!
