This is the only post I'll make about this, in this particular thread because I do not want to see the thread thrown off topic
We decided to let the community handle that thread, and they did, you remember how discusted everyone was and how the thread just died on its own. It is very important to us that we let the community decide what is appropriate and inappropriate for the site as often as possible. This is one of the few forums where the vast majority of people are mature enough to let self moderation work. Sure we could have closed the thread, or even deleted it, but I think it sends a much stronger message to the poster that the thread was dissaproved by the community and his peers, rather than a few people who he may view are on a control trip, or out to get him, or the minority.
Just my $0.02
Anyway, Im back on topic now

Hey, I'm all for strong defense, but give me a f** break with the pornography (and other bs moralistic crap). Was this a Sunday school project?

I used to like to read this map but then I noticed a pattern, every week or so there wold be another "global warming emergency" or "biodiversity attack". I'm sorry but global warming and the death of a three toed white livered bald newt aren't nearly as critical as a hurricane or bombing. This kind of made me think about what the map was really doing, Pointing out incidents that wanted attention (or were too big to ignore). It's not a comprehensive list by any means nor is any real prioritization given on the map. Reading it was just giving me a negative outlook about world events and a slight paranoia about the future. That isn't where I want to live psychologically so I stopped reading the incident map and look to other sources for world news. I maintain a much more positive outlook and can relax and enjoy life more now that I don't let what I can not change change the way I feel.

Isn't it the way of it all. How can I deny that kind of bliss. I want it. Living and loving life with one's family. All people want this instinctively. For some an event occurs, something very big usually and they know they cannot be settled about it any longer, that it controls too much of their lives already and it is up to them to change. This is the way it is with people, with all of us.

I guess I'm saying I envy you and want more of that in my life. Sorry if I obscured it.

LOL! I'm not that relaxed or laid back at all, but I did identify one unnecessary stressor and replace it with things that gave a more realistic perspective on the whole range of human experience not just the disasters, accidents, and potential for destruction.

And it still sounds nice. I'm glad to hear it.
