I remember when I was young and thought I was tough, I was in the Army and stationed at a little place called Camp Liberty Bell in Korea. We got the order to clean out the weeds along the fence around the camp. We went to the shed and got out the proper implements of destruction and after a while of swinging blades in the sun somebody got smart and said, "Hey, let's just burn this $h_t.". A great idea was put into effect, a few minutes later after the fire was started and the back patting had commenced the old crusty 1st Sergeant who had fought the end of WWII, Korea and Viet Nam came out and said to us, " That's fine boys but I wouldn't stand so close in case one of them old mines goes off.".
It is easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled. Twain

I was 19 or 20 at the time and bull-headed as all get out. I was up all night studying for a final for school, I had to be at work at 8am that morning, and I was training for a powerlifting meet at the time as well. I decided, yeah i'm exhausted and I have to be at work in 3 hours, I'll just go ahead and get my training in today and take the day off tomorrow. I was training legs that day, I set up a squat bar in the power rack, first set goes eh..., 2nd set yawning through the whole thing. My dumba$$ decides what the hell, shooting for my max TODAY! Load 405lbs on the bar and go down, next thing I remember I hear the guy (who's a friend) that owns the gym yell my name, I fall back, and hear a godawful BOOM! Turns out he heard what he thought was growling and came to see what it was...it was me w/ 405lbs. on my back in a full squat snoring like a freight train...WTH was I thinking.
Mastering implies there is nothing more for you to learn of something... I prefer proficient enough to not totally screw it up.
