I hate to see anybody abusing the safety nets we provide. all they are really doing is stealing. however, using the system to help you out when you are in need is not wrong. people sometimes make horrible choices or questionable ones that have unforseen consequences and these folks sometimes need help. in the bad old days local church groups and charities helped folks out or you simply did ithout and perhaps reduced the surplus population. today church groups still try to help, "catholic charities" even gets government support for their charity efforts.
the problem got to big back in the 1930's and the government stepped in to "help" thus creating thousands of good civil service jobs for the union workers and ever since there has been no way to curb the waste.

all that being said it is a matter of human dignity to be allowed to choose what you eat or do not eat that is something i do not worry about.
