...Ref our conversation the other night I have been on the hunt for my perfect holster. Whats your thought on this: The HF1 by Tucker Gunleather. I am thinking dark brown with the mathcing belt and case holder.

I've heard good things about their stuff but have no personal experience. interesting design, I'm not a fan of the cut diamond pattern I prefer a traditional basket weave but thats just ornamentation. It looks like good stitching and nice leather. I assume for CCW? (missed the previous conversation)

I will get my plain.. not planing on the diamond cut or basketweave. Just a good quality belt holster combo. JL had me on the Milt Sparks and I was also checking out the MitchRosen stuff. At the moments its down between a Milt Sparks holster and this one.

You couldn't go wrong with either one but that is a nice holster.

Milt Sparks and Tucker are my favorites too. I've had a number of each, they're comparable in quality (very high) and to choose between the two I'd just go with the style I preferred. The lead time from Tucker was a lot less than Sparks the last time I ordered, don't know if that's still the case or not.

I am a big fan of Milt Sparks but that is a handsome holster!

The "badge" is kind of cool...I've had my eye on this one for some time:

The wife has the purse strings double-knotted right now but hopefully that changes soon!

If thats for concealed carry both the badge and the extra flap make it SUCK! I prefer my Versa Max II. The good news is it should be comfortable to wear and its really high quality. If thats what you want you won't be dissapointed. And you should get what you want.

That holster is a good design for any gun over 30 oz, otherwise it might be a lot of extra leather. But the belt and loops are designed for a gun under 30oz. I can tell from here the butt of the gun will stick out a little from cross-weight leverage. If your ok with that then no problem.

What are you going to carry in it?

I've always regretted buying brown gear, usually the minute I'm out looking for a mag holder and "we don't carry brown" comes up. Lately I've been sticking to black.

    Just another data point . . .

And lately, since its winter I've been really enjoying my shoulder holsters.

And please, lets say enthusiast; the word nut is just so "cliche"

Well its gonna be a S&W 4006TSW. Its a heavy beast at 37oz so I am gonna need something that will hold that weight. One of the biggest stumbling blocks I have so far is that there are not too many leathermakers that have models for the 4006.

I am not certain of the color yet. I have always had black (with the exception of a shoulder holster I once had). I plan to purchase the belt, holster and mag pouch at the same time so at least the colors will match.

I would love to use as shoulder rig. It would be ideal for a gun of this weight but my department prohibts the use of any shoulder rig where the barrell points to the rear. I know of a few shoulder rigs where the front sight faces down but even then the range guys discourage their use. I do forsee them being against SOP in the future. I'll save myself the aggravation and go with the belt setup.

I do like the badge idea. I was going to see it I could get a slightly smaller version of my depts badge and have it affixed like this guy did. It would save having to worry about a badge holder and I think it looks nice.

...oh and as far as the GunNuts thing. I know its cliche. Thats why I said it - meant it to be a joke. If anyone who was not from our circle of friends here saw some guys talking about guns on a straight razor forum I think the consensus would be that we are nuts.
