Thanked: 346I carried my wilson in one for awhile, slung from a Tucker gunbelt. It's a good holster, the flap doesn't seem to affect concealability. I'd be more concerned about the textured leather and badge pulling on clothing and printing, though if this is a duty holster that's not a problem (though you'll want to get the optional thumbstrap). I've since switched to a j-frame in a sparks pocket holster, though, since houston is too hot to wear the kind of clothing that allows an outside-the-pants concealed carry, and I'm not built to comfortably wear an inside-the-pants holster.
Though I've switched to pocket carry I still wear my Tucker gunbelt every day, it's a great belt and a very discreet gunbelt.

Its a very comfortable place to carry but sitting on it or worse yet falling on it has been found to cause lower back damage. This is why many police departments no longer even have the handcuff case located there. If you do carry there have an alternative for when you are driving, and don't carry there if you are going to be at a desk all day. I personally have found that after a full day carrying SOB I hurt, so I sold the holster and gun, getting something more compact that comfortably carries just behind my hip. Now I have more discomfort while carrying but no discomfort from having carried.

Thanked: 1Tucker looks like they have nice holsters.
I have an El Paso Saddlery holster for my hunting handgun. I love it. Their website is : www.epsaddlery.com They also have some "newer" designs designed for the modern auto's. I like the "Threepersons".
I carry in a cheap Don Hume IWB for a G-27, or kydex from Ky-tac for a XD . I use my guns, so I don't care that the kydex will wear the finish on the slide. I have friends that don't feel that way and will only carry in dead animal skin.

EnGarde,
If you are a cop then the badge is perfect. Thats a heavy gun, I would think though that a little printing will be ok in your circumstance. I notice the belt looks heavy enough.
I carry a Cock and Locked 1911 in a shoulder rig with the barrel pointed backwards. It is a pain of "worry", luckily it has a thumbreak inside the hammer.
Yea, buy everything you need up front. If you carry two reloads be careful with your spare mag carriers, they break the belt loopholes on bluejeans pretty easy.

Nice choice of weapon for duty, but I feel for you since you are doing it plain clothes. Its been our patrol sidearm for about 5 years now. Some of our dicks carry their .380 cause they think their 4013 is too heavy
I have heard good things about Tucker leather also, but have no personal experience. Two of my friends have a Versa Max II and love it. One carries a S&W 4040PD, the other a Night Hawk 1911. I have used the 1911 at the range with the holster and it is a very sturdy holster. I do not think you would be disappointed.
I have been carrying a Kahr P9 off duty for almost a year now and I really like the two Comp-Tac holsters I have for it.

I have the C-T.A.C. and the Settable Cant. I use the Settable Cant more the the other. It is a very comfortable holster that rides higher than anything I have ever tried. It holds the weapon high and tight. I don't know how well it would do with a 4006 though.

Well unfotunately we are a plain clothes outfit and thats what they decided to purchase this time around. We are all stunned at the thought process (or lack therof) that went into this purchase. There is no doubt that its a quailty gun in our minds but with all the other options out there this is what we get. The rest of state LEO's carry compact HK .45's and the Game Wardens even have a .357 SigSauers. It seems as though most of the municiapl county guys now have Glocks and the overwhelming trend in this state is back to the .45 cal. We get this rock. We have a casual concealment policy. They prefer we try to cover it but they realize that its not always possible.
On the topic of leathergear - they issued us double nylon mag pouches (for a duty belt !? ) and the Uncle Mikes plastic (like a fobus but low quality) holsters. You click the gun and they just flop around off your belt. Its crazy...
If I had my choice I would probably grab a compact Glock and the choice of holster options would be a mile long.
By the way.. thanks everyone for the responses to my post. Most appreciated and happy new year!

Thats incredible. I'm speachless. I think if I were a cop today I'd consider some form of retension holster. Sorry about the Uncle Mikes thing. I almost want to laugh but then you just can't, you know?
