Default Anyone know someone who can help me out??

I have been trying to find someone to do a custom holster rig for one of my guns, but I cannot find anyone who is actually able to do it. I have contacted most of the major holster makers, and even those who do custom work have declined the project. Anyone have any ideas of who I could talk too??

Here is a copy of my letter feel free to pass it along

    To Whom It May Concern:

I would like to find a shoulder holster or full shoulder rig for my HK USP with TLR-2 tac light setup. The HK USP is a full size, left hand model (variant 2) with the safety on the right hand side of the weapon. The tac light is made by Streamlight and they are currently sending out molds by request for the light. I currently wear a Galco Miamia Classic II shoulder rig and would like a holster that could either be worn with that rig, or an entire new shoulder rig with a similar configuration. The HK USP has a non-standard rail and requires a GG&G adapter for most rail accessories including this one. I have an extra adapter which I would be willing to send in order to help you mold the holster to the correct measurements if needed. Other than the adapter everything else is completely standard on the weapon and tac light. Currently Blade-Tech makes a standard belt holster for this setup, but no one I know of produces a shoulder rig that will work Does this sound like a request you are able to fulfill, and if not can you recommend someone else?

Here are links to photos of the actual gun and laser combo:

    HK in Blade-Tech Kydex:

Here is a link to streamlight's website with info on the TLR-2, there customer service dept, can give details on measurements and available molds: http://www.streamlight.com/product/product.aspx?pid=81

Please contact me as soon as possible via phone or email.

    Josh,

You might try contacting this guy

    http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm...iendID=5477855

He is owner of William Ho' Naqu Arts Leather Works.

Back when I was active in SASS shooting, he made all of my custom gun leather. He specializes in period western style, but I would be suprised if he couldn't make anything you wanted.

    His work is top quality.

    Scott

Absense of evidence isn't evidence of absense. Send him an email at least, if he doesn't do them himself he might know someone who does.

Ahh, a student of Russell's teapot. Refreshing!

Wish I could recommend something for you, but I'm afraid all of my experience is in overt carry. :P

I make holsters, but am quite inexperienced. I also would have to decline. The problem as I see it is the flashlight. In order to draw the gun with the light you have to create a void for the light to pass through. Any holster I can envision making out of leather would then provide almost no support to the gun in the trigger guard and grip areas. The whole weight of the gun would have to be controlled by gripping the slide tightly enough to keep it from flopping around despite no support for the underside of the gun. As I see it a horizontal shoulder rig is just out of the question if you want a smooth draw and even with vertical carry some type of retention strap would be necessary to keep the gun in the holster, let alone comfortably immobile. Kydex is really the best option because it is much more rigid than leather and the gun can "snap" into it.

Of course I could be wrong. I just did a little checking and found this site:
    http://www.fist-inc.com/holsters/holster/70.htm
He does custom leather and Kydex holsters and the design in the link might allow him to make what you want.

Your problem is one reason I have spent so much time learning the Chapman Flashlight technique.

    Damn I like that phrase!

I'll second asking Tucker, my dealings have always been with Rob Longecker (sp?) and he's a good guy. Someone in the business might be better able to point you in the right direction.

Survival Sheath Systems was recommended by blackwater, I spoke with them today and they are really going above and beyond to fit the holster right...they are actually buying the taclight I am using to make the holster! Anyway it will look something like this with a few different options and in black.

I also have a leather maker willing to do something down the line in leather, but I think kydex may be the way to go with this one since holding its shape is so important in this application
