What's the Weather Like?
I know we have members from all over the U.S. and world here. So what's the weather like?
Here in Jennings, LA:
The birds are singing, it's 60 deg. Fahrenheit, not a cloud in the sky --sunny and blue skies. -15 feet of snow --can almost hear the mosquitoes.Last edited by jaegerhund; 01-26-2007 at 09:48 PM.

Here in Michigan it's a balmy 30F and sunny, the birds are chirping, theres only four inches of snow, and the mosquitoes are all dead!!!!
Of course for most of the day it was 20F with 15mph wind and freezing drizzle

"A balmy 30F" ? --that's a cold day down here. It rarely gets to the lower 20"s. I like the cold but maybe that's because I don't know what real cold is. However, I do know someone from Rhode Island who says that the winters down here are cold ---it's the humidity or maybe it's psychological ---people don't expect to be cold in South Louisiana.

It's -9 (about 10F) here in Toronto. We're finally getting nice snowboarding snow, and with my luck it's a week before I take a 2 week trip to South America where it's full-blown summer lol.

Thanked: 1587Here in Brisbane, Australia, it's a tepid 30 C with a relative humidity of about 99%. Chance of rain and late thunderstorms (hopefully). Freshening north to north-west winds easing on the coast (made that last one up - sounds professional, though).
And, last night about 20 minutes up the road at a place called Laidley there was a mini tornado - rare-ish in this part of the world.

Jimbo, we can get tornadoes here in Louisiana. Believe it or not, the winter months can cause some of the worse ones. When those cold and warm fronts meet ---watch out.

Wildtim, I don't know if you've ever been to Louisiana, but I live in the South West coastal part. My parents are originally from the Mississippi/Louisiana border area --not much more north than here --but the temperatures can be colder there ,and I've experienced those cold, blue and dry days --some of my best memories as a child were winter days there with the temperature near the teens, blue skies, and dry ---and the pine trees, somehow the pine trees make a difference ---we have mostly large oak trees here --- so I know a little bit of which you speak of ---just a little. I like being a southerner, but sometimes I think I should of been born up north and maybe a little west --with the snow, grizzlies, wolverines.........

FiReStart, amazing, amazing,----that's all I can say. -40 and you start thinking of long johns. But maybe working in a shipyard, in July, 100F with high humidity, inside a ship with acetylene torches and arc welders blazing ---who knows how hot is --is something to you as well. But amazing......

Jimbo, as you might have seen in the news, we get hurricanes around here ---some pretty bad ones. But hurricanes are a slow to build fear --maybe over a weeks time --if you can, you head for the hills and hope you have something to come back to. But, tornadoes, that's a different animal, mate (hope it's alright for me to use the word mate). I've had a couple of near misses, and they do sound like a train coming through your living room ---make you pee a little ---scary. If there are members from "Tornado Alley" , maybe they can pipe in.
