    Man that looks awesome!

Is that slightly thicker part in the middle of the blade for added stability? I love the way it looks.

Thank you all for your kind words.

@str8fencer: Thank you! The blade is very flexible, even a soft touch makes it flex from the edge to the belly.

@Swerve: You are right, this is not a real kamisori. Fixed straight surely is the better term.

@ZeroCool: Thank you. Yes, the thicker part (belly) gives a bit more stability. Without it the blade would be to flexible.

    cheers,
    Ulrik

    Thank you.

Unfortunately i did not take any wip pictures. Maybe i take some next time i make such a grind.

To create such a profile you need at least two different contact wheel sizes. The more different sizes, the thiner the final grind can be made.
I started with a 20cm Wheel and made a grind to nearly zero at the edge. It is important to have a perfect grind at this point, any mistake will make the rest much more difficult.
Next is a 10cm wheel with a hard coating that is very aggressive. With this one i grind till i nearly reach the edge. Then i change to a soft 10cm wheel an grind the rest exactly till i reach the edge. The blade is now hollow ground but hasnt the belly yet.
To achieve this i change to a 5cm wheel. I start grinding at the spine and often change the side to get it symmetrical. This needs to be done till both grinds nearly match in the middle of the blade.

I hope this is quite understandable ;-)

    cheers,
    Ulrik

Thank you very much for your instructions. Do you have some jig or you grind free hand?

I always do the rough grinding with the 20cm wheel before hardening. But i leave about 0,5mm at the edge.
The rest is done after hardening.
