    Default Genco Fluid Steel

A before pic. Some pitting, some rust, and lots of gunk.

Picked this up on the bay recently. It joins two other Genco (Genevas), the De Roma and Master Barber. Both fine shavers. This one is a Genco Fluid Steel. Not a Geneva since this one was made in PA by Case, who bought the Geneva plant and moved operations from NY. Ivory paper micarta with black wedge. These scales were made thin to replicate the originals which were not usable.

Nice job. I have a few of those Fluid Steels and they are all stellar shavers. How do I tell whether they were made by Case or by Genco before Case bought them out ?

    +1 - Nicely done.
My first razor was a 6/8 Roundpoint Fluid Steel. I still have/use/love it.

Nice job, very clean! The wedge does seem to protude a little, or is that a trick of the light?

Excellent restore and save. I only have one Genco, a Henery's X, and it is a terrific shaver.

Thank you. Got this history from a Geneva thread: From 1960-1965 Case made Gencos at their Bradford, PA plant. At least 5 Geneva/Genco employees came to the Bradford plant when the NY plant closed. This razor is stamped Bradford PA. I think some Fluid Steels were made at the original plant in NY.

It does extend a little. I used the original wedge without changing its size to retain some of its nostalgia. I might get tired of that and fix it eventually.
