Thanked: 10DD satinedge
Just restored a Dubl Duck Satinedge. I was going to transfer all of the inlays, but they were not matching up the way I wanted them to. Micarta scales, brass pins. Test shave tonight. The toe was overhoned by the previous owner, but I hope to decrease that over time.

Thanked: 1184It takes a long time to guide the scales into that brass. Sand, check, sand, check, sand, check, sand, check, check, check some more, sand, check, sand, check. What you wound up with looks nice. I hope you didn't throw the brass away you didn't use. You could practice making some ends and maybe someday reunite it all. :<0)
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

Looks nice Berthold! Totally understand just using the side hardware. 10Pups is right about the work involved in fitting all that hardware, I'm playing with one now and it's a bear - especially using G10! If you haven't seen the thread 10pups created with an ongoing narrative and videos of his Duck refurb with new scales it's at... at... hey 10Pups what happened to your thread??? Man I'm tired but I swear I just read more in it yesterday. Anyway it's a bear to do.
OK found the thread - http://straightrazorpalace.com/works...es-reaper.html

Yep fitting the inlays on is quite the daunting task for sure..
I am on my 3rd set now trying to get them to fit right...
1 slip with the sandpaper and BOOM...Start AGAIN!
Or like 10pups says slow down by using a HIGHER grit sandpaper...that will MAKE you slow down...
