Default New G-10 (layered black/blue) handle for my Boker razor

A friend gave me this razor with no handle. I've honed it and had several good shaves. I just made this handle for it this weekend. My first razor handle. I'm pretty happy since previously I had a cheap ebay razor handle attached to the razor using 14 ga. electrical wire. It's a Boker razor with G-10, layered black/blue. Any suggestions on future handles are appreciated. I've been thinking of getting used ones on eBay and such and restoring them. Gives me something to do to keep me out of trouble.

I love working with G10 and think it makes the best scales out there (nice job by the way, looks good) If you want to have some fun try new things with you G10 and i think you will find that you can do a lot more with it than anything else. Here is an early G10 one i did. Hope it give you some ideas and if you have any questions about working with it i or many others are here to help Name: IMG_1719.jpg

Beautiful handle. I like the way you exposed the layers in the middle of the handle. I agree about G-10. Great material for knife scales. I may make my next razor handle out of kirinite? Have you worked with it? I've used it for knife scales. It's much softer than G-10, micarta, etc. Very easy to remove too much before you know it. I get it from USAknifemakers.com. I also love the mirror polish you put on the blade. What did you use to polish it?

No i have not worked with that stuff before but i have worked with some very cool material like ctek. Here is a pick
For the polish i on this one i started with a greaseless compound up to 350 but i need some 600 then went through my black, stainless, white and red compounds, i also find the stainless and white are great for bring out the shine in G10. Have you ever tried dimpled G10 before, it turns out really nice and you get a great grip on it as well!

That is a beautiful razor. I love that material. Where do you get it? I had decided not to put a pin in the end of the handle and just glue the end. That would be more attractive than a pin/screw. But a decorative pin looks great. I can see I have a lot to learn about the possibilities. I guess they are virtually endless.

    Excellent work on that razor.

I found C-TEK on USAknifemakers.com. Several choices of color. I'm definately going to try this stuff out. I'll probably get enough to do a knife or two as well. I just put red bone scales on my Spyderco Manbug to replace the original G-10 grey scales. I like it a lot and think the c-tek would look great, even better because I like patterns in material. Don't know exactly when my next order will be but c-tek is now on the list.

Thank you i do love this one. If you want ctek dont get it from usaknifemaker instead look up the CO that makes it out of FL and get it from them direct as they can make you and color in any opaque that you want and you might get some samples of other stuff to try as well. Here is a link to them and check out the other stuff they have, they where really helpful. Also i didn't glue the end at all in fact on this one i used a titanium stand off as the spacer, check it out

Nice razor love the C Tek scales.

What cell size and color is that on those scales? Does CCI sell direct and do they sell sheets? There is no color selection, sizing and pricing on their website and distributors only sell 5 inch slabs.

What is the deal with opacity, are there different gradients?

Euclid440, First i am not affiliated with them just so everyone knows but when i called them they could do 1/16 or 1/8 in cell size and make any color you want. The one i got i asked for a dark cranberry in a #8 opacity, they have a scale they go by from 1-10 for how transparent you want it and i ordered a 5x11 slab in 1/4 in i think but they have a lot to offer. Most of it is custom order witch is why i guess they dont have a color and size chart. Hope this helps.
