Cool Vintage Restore: 1820-1830 G-(Crown)-R Rodgers Stubtail:

Just finished doing a restore on this ca. 1820-1830 G(crown)R Rodgers stubtail. Original faux turtle shell horn scales with bulls-eye collars. Blade face s 3 3/8 inches long by 6/8 inches wide with a 'Spanish Point' profile....a Great old shaver! I really enjoyed working on this one...

    Hope you like it:

Not sure...possibly E.R. Rodgers...although it could also be Joseph Rodgers as he was Appointed cutlers to His Majesty King George IV in 1821.

Those are just temporary 'mock-up' bolts. Nest step is to pin it up using the original collars as shown.

Looks great! Like those steel collars! Now pin it up and show us another pic! Love it!

Thank you kindly Glen! As you know I use the Marshes & Shepard frame-back that you restored for me as my blueprint on what direction to go when I work on these nice vintage restores.

I highly recommend to anyone that is getting into this avocation to any degree, that they have a 'Vintage Restore' done by an expert first, to use as a guideline. It's the best money you could spend! Certainly there are many fine folks on this website that would qualify. I chose you Glen because you love the history of these fine old razors as I do, and because your whole focus in the beginning was on 'vintage restoration' not necessarily perfection.

Being able to look in the mirror and see myself shaving with the exact same razor, in the same condition (albeit with a few minor age spots!) that someone else shaved with almost 200 years ago is to me the truly amazing aspect of this hobby.

    Thanks again!
