7/8+ handforged generic razor in purpleheart
I call this a generic razor because it doesn't have special features and no makers mark. I forged a razor blank for someone, but that deal fell through so I decided to use the blank for grinding practice. Because I originally made it for someone else and it was fully heat treated, it doesn't carry my mark.
The scales are purpleheart with CA coating, with an ebony spacer. I am fairly happy with how it turned out, except from the fact that I only noticed halfway through that my 8" wheel was not 100% true. it was slightly raised at the sides, which caused some slightly uneven grinding. You can't really see it except if you hold it to the light, because it has satin finish.
The problem with the wheel is also the reason why the bevel is not entirely even. It doesn't hurt the razor because the ege is perfectly in line with the spine, but it doesn't look crisp. All in all it is a functional basic razor.

Interesting looking razor. Did you shave with it?

Once, though it was not yet entirely shaveready. I am not that good a honer that I can get an 'unknown' razor to shave ready at the first try. I only hone my own razors so I don't get to practice that much.

I like the razor, it has everything a should have, and little else. A great generic razor indeed.

I'm sorry to hear about your minor setbacks. But it turned out very good looking in the end despite that!

Thanked: 1184The razor looks fine, Basic is never a bad thing. I am more worried about the wheel :<0)
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.
