Very nice job on those two! I especially like the look of the Elliot and the tapers on both scales.

Thanks for the info on acrylester too - I was looking for something I can use for wedges that had a burl look but without the tiny pits most wood shows. While looking I found more examples of acrylester and wound up getting enough to use as wedges for a looong time.

Yeah the only thing is you have to go through it to find the correct streaking on the end... I've gotten to the end of a wedge and it ended up being solid color

I was afraid of that - but getting lots of practice at it lately. There's a guy up in Alaska that dyes wood that's interesting to start with and he makes it incredible looking. Only problem is it comes in blocks so one has to study it carefully before cutting.

If it gets you going, here's a link to his stuff. custom knifes
He sells wood on ebay as well at craigstevensstudio | eBay

Didn't mean to do an advertisement for him but the wood he transforms is pretty interesting.

If you get some from him make sure you check the sizes! One bit of scales material I got was less than 5" - nice for wedges but I wanted that set for scales!

Very nice I love the acrylester, it gives it just the right abount of "stand out-ness" that should be in any barbers shop.
