Thread: A visit with Mycarver

SO yesterday, I had the pleasure of visiting with Mycarver and picking up two of my recent restoration projects.

I am going to let the pics speak for themselves. Mark is an amazing craftsman and artist, and a true gentleman. I highly recommend his services to anyone thinking of a restoration project.

I don't have my before pics, but trust me that there was quite a bit of work involved in these two. I shaved with the Rogers last night, and it is hands down my favorite razor so far.

Mark is truly an artist. He restored these two for me.

I am now in love with these big heavy wedges, and am on the hunt (like everyone else I am sure) for more of them. The shave of that Rodgers is amazing.

As I mentioned in another thread, there's a big 8/8 W&B in the classifieds now, can't tell if it's a wedge, looks like it might be, but owned by a great member here so you'll know you're getting a great blade....

Just messaged him. I actually have a friend who is interested. More than I want to spend on a blade right now, but I showed a buddy and he loves it.

Here we go.
The Frameback blade had script running along the blade at one time but it was quite damaged along with some deep scratches. In the spirit of cleaning up the blade to make it a bit more uniform and attractive I removed the damaged script. I finished the texture in the factory type finish. New Black Horn scales completed the piece. Double stacks on the wedge end and a piece of genuine Ivory as the wedge. Visually this razor is the opposite of his next piece.

Count yourself lucky... The last guy that visited ended up in a bath tub full of ice and one kidney missing...

I don't believe that for a minute. He did offer me a cocktail at 930am though....

To be accurate, it was his Liver with some Fava beans and a nice Chianti,,, slurp!
My microtome made beautiful slices even after my shave.
