Thanked: 19George Savage XX Patent Tempered - A rare 8/8 beauty!
So I've been working on this for quite a few weeks on and off. Its a monster near wedge blade - really heavy! Purchased as the blade only, off ebay. Overall it was in good condition, but had two annoying spots of pitting on both sides, where the blade settled against the scales when closed. Been working at it gradually with the greaseless over the last few weeks - taking my time!
I'm very pleased with how it has come out. There is still some minor pitting towards the blade edge, but it hasn't affected the honed edge at all, and to have removed it would have meant sacrificing some blade width - and I didn't want to do that!
I hand cut and shaped the brass wedge - and I like the result. The only part that isn't my work is the buffalo horn scales - maybe at some stage I will try my hand and making scales from scratch myself.
After all the work that has gone into it, I was frankly quite nervous wondering how well it would hone - thankfully it was insanely easy using just the rolling X stroke, on 1k, 2k, 5k, 8k and finally 12k Naniwas. It is brutally sharp, and I couldn't be happier that I will now have this razor in my rotation.
I don't think my phone's camera is doing it justice, but nevertheless...here it is - Enjoy! (Hopefully!!)

Thanked: 19Thank you all for your kind comments - really very much appreciated.
I used my girlfriend's camera to take some better pictures, with the intention of replacing the ones in this thread - but didn't count on the limited amount of time available to edit posts. I can't find any guidelines about this, but I hope I'm not in breach of forum rules posting these extra shots, which are a bit better quality.
