Default E.K. Tryon 3T in Gold

This is the first of three blades I've plated. The others are coming soon.
Here I kept it as a straight up resto duplicating the grind marks on the blade, polishing then plating the shaft, spine and wrapping it around the tip as evidence from the original indicated. Then cleaned up the scales and put it back together again. I like drilling out the pins to prevent cracking the blades. If I do it right the bit centers pretty much down the pin and the scales just fall off on their own.

Great restore. I'm interested in what type of drill you use for pin removal - whenever I've tried that, the bit just skips across the pin.

Standard type 1/16 from Lowes/ HD.
You should first flatten the pin with a file. Then I use a very small burr to make a centering mark for the bit to sit in so it doesn't skate away. Also chuck the bit as deep into the chuck so only a half inch if that sticks out. This keeps the bit rigid and also prevents walking .
And don't expect to keep the razor flat on the drill press table . You need to lift/rotate/angle it depending on how the drilling is going. Yup should be able to drop a 1/16 bit pretty much straight through a pin within reason . At times I'll follow up with a larger bit to remove any peening or flare left that will let the scales just slip off easily.
