FWE resto
Here is the second FWE I did for this client. Earlier I posted his first which was a straight up resto. Polished out the scales ( faux Ivory) duplicated the texture on the blade, blued the shaft as the original was done.
Then I did a mimic piece for myself which was posted here as well using a Fraternity with custom acrylic in orange. I used this color as I had seen an original FWE with translucent orange scales. I liked it and so did my client.
It was a no brainer to do one in the same style as the FWE I had seen as the scales on this one were cracked.
So off came the bolsters. I poured a translucent orangeish acrylic and built some scales.
This blade was in a bit better condition than his first but here too after cleaning it up duplicated the factory look from the blade textures to the blued shaft and tang.
I made small SS washers to match the originals and used NiAg pins.

His two razors and the first I restored in finished condition. The razor posted here is the slightly larger of the two.

Wow Jerry, that is one pretty razor. I love the bolsters and I like the bullseye style washer on the pivot end. I usually put larger washers on the wedge end and smaller on the pivot but for some reason this has a certain balance to it that I really like. I'll have to keep that in mind for future blades if you don't mind me stealing this look.

Here is my recent indulgence as a post Holiday treat for myself. Yeah, like I need more?
Why,,, yes I do!
pretty isn't it? Except now I found out there are others. Oh please stop me if you dare. Don't you dare because this thing ( after giving it a decent edge) shaves like there is no tomorrow. I'd forsake all others if this was my only choice.Last edited by mycarver; 01-10-2014 at 07:13 AM.
