Robeson in Gold
This needed a bit of work but I got her back to what I believe she looked like originally. Polished out the spine and replated it in Gold and duplicated the surface on the blade itself.
Cleaned up the factory scales and buttoned it back up.

Wow,...very nicely done!
I've got a thing for the Robesons as was one of the first "quality" blades obtained from Magpie.
Amazing transition,

Thanks guys.
Like the others I've posted , it's a commercial plating process.

I love it Mark! It's awesome to catch a glimpse at how these razors looked spankin' new! You know I'm a big fan of gold. Often it is hard to determine which parts were originally gold. Some had gold tangs, spines, and some had fully gold blades. Thanks for renewing and preserving such a special piece of history. I dig your style bud!

Thanks again guys !
Usually enough clues are left to see just where the gold was placed. I get a kick out of seeing them as well.
It would be much easier on some to just buff up the blade and throw some scales on them and call it done.
This can take a bit more effort and expense at times but I think it's worth it.Last edited by mycarver; 01-17-2014 at 03:21 PM.

Very nice job. Some day I'll get the courage to try a restore. I traumatized myself by cracking my Shumate Dollars blade trying to polish it about 10 minutes after receiving it, lol.
