Thanks.
I forgot to mention that the scales are original to that razor.

Thanked: 3228Beautiful razor and well done restoration. I am thinking the grind is bellied/double concave. Love it.

Cool blade. Made to look like the Mappin, I'd guess.

Na, 'Lancet Steel' is not necessarily a clue. I see Newgate.. The mark is still there enough to ID. Show the tang good. Newgate?? I can almost say it! Looks great!

I picked up a J.R. Torrey razor in the summer that has the same grind, marked 'Old English' in the groove. It's a nice light, manuverable blade like a hollow ground but shaves like a wedge. It's one of my favorite razors and not one I plan on parting with.

I have couple of "before" pictures, maker's mark was more visible. Unfortunately i can't find them on my computer.
Anyway if i remember correctly it reads as:
................
...TON.Gate
HULL
Thanks.

What a nice restore you have there! I've seen this grind a couple of times here, some argue that the grooves allow more lather to be held on the blade while shaving.
I want a lather whip
