    Default Unknown maker "Lancet Steel".

    Hi.

    Very mysteriuos razor. Very unusual grind.
    Horn scales, brass pins and washers, lead wedge. “Lancet Steel” on the blade.

    Beautiful razor and well done restoration. I am thinking the grind is bellied/double concave. Love it.

    Na, 'Lancet Steel' is not necessarily a clue. I see Newgate.. The mark is still there enough to ID. Show the tang good. Newgate?? I can almost say it! Looks great!

    I picked up a J.R. Torrey razor in the summer that has the same grind, marked 'Old English' in the groove. It's a nice light, manuverable blade like a hollow ground but shaves like a wedge. It's one of my favorite razors and not one I plan on parting with.

    Torrey and Wade and Butcher and a couple Swedish houses used that grind also. I like the shave from them. Stiff and strong edge in a narrow blade.

    I have couple of "before" pictures, maker's mark was more visible. Unfortunately i can't find them on my computer.
    Anyway if i remember correctly it reads as:
    ................

    HULL

    What a nice restore you have there! I've seen this grind a couple of times here, some argue that the grooves allow more lather to be held on the blade while shaving.
