Straight Razor Safari Custom 9/8
Good Evening Gentlemen,
Here is a project that I finished up recently for one of our fine members, (Catrentshaving). I call it, Straight Razor Safari Robert asked me to put something together that was one of a kind. He offered several ideas which only helped fostered my imagination and resulted in the culmination of these two pieces. The razor is 9/8 with an elongated tail and custom filework meant to resemble elephants walking along the tail. The steel is 01 with a half hollow grind brushed and polished. The spine is round over with a brushed finish and the sides of the tang and tail are mirror like. The scales are a commercial resin based with an integrated natural banana fiber pattern. The finish is high polish and clear between the fibers. Kind of a wild beast of a razor, hiding in the bush. The stand was built specifically to fit this razor and its theme. The base is african Blackwood. I hand picked this from our local woodsmith store because of the light contrasting strip. I put a slight plane on the base to give it some dimension. The sled the razor rests on is suspended above the base on the brass rod, and is made of crystal clear 1/2 food grade Lucite. I cut and heat bent it to resemble an elephant trunk. Thanks for looking !
Enjoy your weekend!
Best Regards, Ken

Mastering implies there is nothing more for you to learn of something... I prefer proficient enough to not totally screw it up.

That is just breathtaking Ken. Could just as well rest in a modern art museum or on a very fortunate shaver's favorite spot in his shave den. Wow.
