    Default Barber Shears

Not a straight I know, but just had to bring them back to life. I knew my grandfather shaved with a straight before he switched to a DE. I haven't found his straight yet, but got his DE that I cleaned up and gave to my brother. Well, come to find out my grandfather was a barber. He didn't give shaves, but he did cut hair. I found some of his old shears and figured I should clean them up some. This set was pretty rusty and still has some pitting on one side. Looks like what is hiding under "devil's spit". Would have had to take off alot of metal to remove so figured leave it on there since it does affect the cutting edge. I didn't get fancy with these, just a quick sanding to the blades and polished them up, but left the patina on the handles. I liked the hammered look. I didn't want to do to much to them. I need to get a new screw cause I had to cut slots in it to remove it. It was rusted in place. Now if only I could find his straight. That would be fun to bring back to life.

After these got me thinking about what would cause "Devils Spit" since if shears can have it then what would cause it. Hmmm, maybe these cut someones ear off and blood is the cause. Just something to think about.
