Green Eyed Lady Custom 10/8 - Razor Rest
Good Evening,
This one goes out to Rob aka: rbaker2778. I had the privilege or working on a custom straight razor for him recently and have truly enjoyed the project. I appreciate his valued contribution, ideas and patience in what has allowed me to produce something for him that is one of a kind.
The razor is 10/8 with a mirror like finish, not imperfection free but very good. I gave it a healthy hollow so it sings a bit. The scales are G10. Desired colors were jade like but more in the sea foam shades, like the old vintage guitars. Rob mentioned he played guitar and likened the color he was after, to the old sea foam guitar colors back in the day. These details set the stage for me in the overall theme of this project. Anyway, I used a White Jasmine Corian wedge with traditional hand peened nose pin. The pivot is stainless hex head. There is a bit of file work on the tail, reminiscent of a guitar headstock, tuning pegs and frets. - (say that fast 3 times) lol
Also included some traditional jimps on the bottom of the tang. The name of the razor just popped into my head and I thought it was cool.
I wanted to give the Razor Rest a retro look so I ordered up some custom REEF color dyed resin, cut it to shape and heat formed it by hand. The top of the headstock secures the razor firmly with the use of a magnet. The base is bamboo. Some of you may be wondering what the little "thingy" is mounted on the back side. Well, since I have a soft spot for gadgets and little technologies, I found a little compact led light show machine. You just twist the knob on or off. Totally unnecessary and certainly not by request but for me a cool factor. I added one dark shot to give a little idea of how it looks when on in dim light. Well, thats about it. Thanks for stopping by.
Best Regards, Ken

Green Eyed Lady Custom 10/8 - Razor Rest
I have never been more excited for a fedex shipment in my life.
By way of back story, My very first real guitar was a cream colored Fender Strat. Bought it in 1988 and still have it today. It's really remarkable because most of what is seen was a surprise to me. I used color references and told Ken I was a guitar player during our conversation. I never specifically said much more than I want seafoam green scales if you can find the material. I expected a green razor. That's it. What I got or have coming is so much more. Ken captured a piece of my life without me even realizing it. Music was my first love and is still a big part of my life. I couldn't be happier with this surprise. And for those of you who don't know, the stand is shaped like a fender Strat. My exact first guitar. It brought me so much joy to see that.
If anyone is looking for a custom experience beyond your wildest dreams, get in touch with Ken. He is a gentleman and an artist extraordinaire.
