Default And a Keen Kutter it is!

Recently finished this little gem off
honed it up on the weekend & had the first shave with it this morning (3 pass WTG/XTG/ATG),
and I must say wow what a beautifully & Keen little shaver it is.
very nice light feel to it

    sorry for the poor photos

    The details:
Ebay find received the bare blade with 2 others as a package deal
cleaned her up, no sanding only hand polishing required
    made the rest new
also my first attempt at a new Box from a patterned Card

    Blade - 5/8" KEEN KUTTER
Blade markings - KEEN KUTTER with the triangle (very faint remnants of gold wash I think)
Tang markings Front - K 746 KEEN KUTTER
Tang markings Back - Shapleigh’s St. Louis U.S.A
    Scales – Black Buffalo horn
    Wedge - Black Buffalo horn
Pins, washers, & thrush washers – Brass

    Honing –
Naniwa 1K - about 40 circles with 20 X strokes in sets heavy until bevel was set (I think it was 2 sets) then 1 light set
    Norton 4/8 - about 40 circles with 20 X strokes on each of the Norton 4 & 8K’s - light
Naniwa 12k - about 20 or so X strokes with Glen’s “GSSixguns” pig tails combinations on the 12k
Stropped on a Star Shaving Big Daddy - 50 laps on felt then finished with about 100 laps on the English Bridle

I like what you did with the scales. Interesting that the tang says Shapleigh and the blade has the Keen Kutter logo.

    Nice work
Here is a pic of the logo that you are missing. It will most likely be gone when the buffer hits it,
this is also a K746. it had a gold wash tang also which is about 60% gone.

I used my Keen Kutter today, but it's a "Royal Keen Kutter" by Simmons Hardware. A Keen Kutter Boker box came with my first razor...years before i thought about actually using one. Wonder how many different outfits made a "Keen Kutter"?

Okay, Substance. Now that you mention the scales matching the point of the blade it's pretty clear. It totally slipped by me before.

The card is work score we get it from office supplies and use it for backing of the plastic spring spine folders things it's about as thick as Manila folder
The local scrap booking shop has some nice card options I was looking at the other day also if you are looking for some similar
