Thanks Joe, I like your avatar too! Where'd you get the Sheffield symbols?

Hmm, well as was previously stated this is a new one to me. I like the tree bark effect and think that is an interesting concept that cold be incorporated into some neat custom razors. But, since you asked for an honest opinion, I'm not really understanding the rest. For me, half the fun of finding an old item to restore is seeing what you can do with it given it's current shape/condition. This kind of brings to mind a stone carver working on an ancient statue and epoxying a slab of marble on to "improve" it.

That being said, I am happy that you have a razor that pleases you and gives you a great shave. We all have our likes and dislikes and that is what makes the world go around.
The older I get the more I realize how little I actually know.

Certainly not your usual restore job. But if I had to choose between one of those over buffed mirror jobs, and this, I think I would take your style most times.
I thought the GunKote needed a temp high enough to risk the temper though? Glad it all worked out in the end!

Man thats a great looking blade. Not sold on the blueing but with age I think it will look just right. Kind of wicked looking where the blue meets the honed edge. Very unique blade bet it shaves like a beast.

    Thanks for sharing it.

Thank you rmagnus, I appreciate your opinion. The shave is like a Marine, 2nd to None! I kid, I kid. It really is effortless and I feel the size, weight has everything to do with it. Because the 1st day I used it, the blade and weight work so well together, I swore I didn't cut any hair!

Thank you magpie! the GunKote does need high temp, apparently, my SR is a hand forged item, and the metal type is exceptional, from what Dylan told me. I trust him, anyone that makes art out of metal and have it built for utilitarian use is a master of his craft. Besides, I haven't seen anyone with a GunKote or chemically coated blade and I wanted a different look to match my theme. I think there are a lot more fans for the high polish blades than a blackened one.

Thank you very much Matt, I definitely see and appreciate your point! I was looking at this W&B like a 70 Chevy Nova with patina on the hood and a satin black paint job everywhere else, "350" badges on the outside but an LS7 under the hood, and stock poverty dog dish wheels with fat tires and a dropped suspension. A semi-sleeper to most.
