    Default Ford in carved horn scales

    ====================================

    Hi all,

    Some time ago I bought a quite mysterious straight razor.

    The logo on the tang says P (heart) FORD.

    After a short query on SRP abyss I realised that in fact it does not concern
    Henry Ford nor Harrison Ford but:

    Jonathan Pitchford, a Sheffield manufacturer of 19th century.

    The razor is 13/16" wide, wedge type. Has got original scales in carved horn.

    Feel free to have a look.

    Nice find and clean up. That's a distinguished looking razor.
    The older I get the more I realize how little I actually know.

    That's a gorgeous wedge and the scales are so very unique a beautiful. You say they are carved but wouldn't they have been stamped or "pressed" with that pattern?

    Those scales are over the top. I really like the washers too, I wish I could figure out how to form them.

    You're probably right. I didn't think about this option. Thank you.

    Thank you. The washers have been taken from other broken or rotten old scales.

    Now that is a sweet razor and I don't think I have seen one like it before. Congrats on a terrific find.

    Very nice job cleaning that beauty up. It should be a wonderful shaver...I have a similar Pitchford wedge and it is. Enjoy!
