IXL Washington Works
This one turned out pretty nice, so I thought I would share it. I always liked the etched ivory on some old Wostenholms and found some with a poor blade knowing I had a nice old regrind with warped, bug-eaten scales. As I unpinned everything and scrubbed rust, I found cracks on the backside of the front scale across the wedge pin, but not all the way out, and from the pivot hole. At this point, since the originality was out as for collarless peens, I dug out and CA'ed the crack on the bottom, cut the top of the scales at the pivot holes, reshaped the tips, and installed my blade super-tight to the wedge end using reinforced silver collars and bronze pins. Lucky me, it centers in that tiny space perfectly! A sweet shaver!
"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

Thanks! Coming from a craftsman like yourself, means a lot!
Thanks! I would say you have NOO idea, but I know you DO! Anal sizing, precise pin hole drilling, afraid of when the bit breaks thru...trimming the front of the wedge till 'ain't no more', aluminum pop-rivet pivot bushing (don't tell Pixel!) Oversizing the holes and sizing the collars so the 2 on the wedge end meet with some crush room, same on top. Hammer was not tapping, just ticking! About 5 or 6 mockups, CAing the wedge to the cracked scale, Razor silliness. I just cannot believe it closes center. Pure luck!
Thanks, Matt! I appreciate that!Last edited by sharptonn; 04-19-2014 at 01:23 AM.

I love that razor. About a year ago I tried to work out a deal with an ebay seller for that exact razor. The non presentation side scale was broken in half, but the scrimshaw scale was perfect. He relisted it, rather than take my offer. It still hurts.
Beautiful example you have there.

What method did you use to unpin? As careful as you were with everything else, that's what would have had me most worried. Whether I've drilled, ground, or flush cut, there always is the chance of a little flair left in the end of the pin to wreck things
