    Default First Try with Horn

What better way to spend 2 Hrs. on a Saturday?

GOT to figure out this light box thingy... Pictures do NOT do it justice....

Nickle Silver Pins, SS Washers, Brass inner washers, Brown Horn Scales.
Made a REAL wedge this time also!

Horn really STINKS working with it.
Other than that is went pretty good.

Did not put it to the hones yet.

Those first pics are bad, hard to be sure of what you're seeing. I use my cell phone and they come out good enough.

Looking good. I have heard a few people say that about horn, I have to say it's not that bad. I hate the smell of plastic though, even when I'm hand sanding. It just stinks.

Nice job, Chevhead-I'm getting inspired by you guys taking the plunge with horn. I just came in from thicknessing my first set of blanks for a BJ Eyre. What a stench!

Me too! I'm dying to buy some horn or wood stock from Woodcraft, pins, washers, sandpaper, etc. Have to take it easy for a bit though. If I want to continue living in my house that is.

Shape, etc look nice chev, and good work on the wedge, love the contrast in colour. Might just be the pictures, but you can get a really nice shine on horn just using a normal metal or cutting polish. Combine that with a light oil of linseed or antiques polish and she'll catch the light alright.

Those look great! It only took you two hours??
