"Tactical TI" on the way to NJ from GSSIXGUN
So I will let Glen chime in with the specifics on what he did here, and how he did it should he choose to share his secrets.
What I can tell you is that this razor started out as an AOS branded Thiers Issard in stainless steel scales like in the last picture. It was the first straight razor I ever purchased before I knew any better. I hated everything about the balance and feel of the stainless scales, not to mention the fact that the AOS advertising on the blade bugged me.
I decided that it was a nice decent quality blade that deserved more. As a former soldier in the US Army, and a lover of all things "sportsman" related, I asked glen if he could make the razor look like a tactical folder knife. I knew I wanted G10 in some form of OD green, black, or camo, and I knew that I wanted the blade finish to be darkened or blued if possible.
While I had no idea what the end result would be, I gave Glen creative licence on the rest. I am personally thrilled with the results. The blade finish has a worn in look that resembles my Army issued M16A2. I could not be happier with the results. This razor was destined for the classifieds or ebay prior to this work, but will now become part of my permanent collection.
Thanks again, Glen. You have been a source of knowledge, a mentor from afar, and I also consider you a friend even though we have yet to meet face to face.I hope you all enjoy these pics as much as I do.Last edited by rbaker2778; 04-21-2014 at 02:53 PM.

Looks like GI issue drawn from the quartermaster. Excellent work Glen, as always.

Wow, I wish they issued those back when I was in the Army! Now you just have to give it a nomenclature name, I think "the M66" has a nice ring to it. I have a razor being shipped to Glen as we speak, he does amazing work, enjoy!

Thanked: 13249This was an extremely fun project,
I took off their Logo and went to a Satin finish on the buffers, after that I used an old trick to get a Vintage Case Hardened look to the bluing.. Built out the scales..
Here are all the
Specs:
Scales: Camo G10 @ .110 thickness
Wedge: Amber @.055 at the end
Pins: Solid Brass
Washers: Solid brass in and out
Polished to Satin then blued while hot to the touch to produce the classic look
Notch Point added
Honing: Chosera 1-5-10 Nakayama Finish

HUGE upgrade. Those AoS logo etchings are quite hideous.
