So this is my first full restoration.

I picked it up in a lot of 4 for $75, this was the best one of the lot. The scales were original but broken.

The scales I made are from Grey Gum (Eucalyptus punctata) and the wedge is made from Ironbark (most likely Eucalyptus creba; Ironbark covers about 10 species of Eucalyptus)

The scales are slightly mis-shapen and the blade sits very close to left when looking from the heel towards the toe but does not actually touch the scales. I have not stained the wood nor added a varnish. I like the natural finish but am also curious as to how well the Grey Gum holds up to the water. It is a very dense wood and is very resistant to rot.
