    Default First full restore

So this is my first full restoration.

I picked it up in a lot of 4 for $75, this was the best one of the lot. The scales were original but broken.

The scales I made are from Grey Gum (Eucalyptus punctata) and the wedge is made from Ironbark (most likely Eucalyptus creba; Ironbark covers about 10 species of Eucalyptus)

The scales are slightly mis-shapen and the blade sits very close to left when looking from the heel towards the toe but does not actually touch the scales. I have not stained the wood nor added a varnish. I like the natural finish but am also curious as to how well the Grey Gum holds up to the water. It is a very dense wood and is very resistant to rot.

    Anyway, before

Edit: Last 2 photos show the wood if it were to be oiled or varnished. It brings out the lovely rich colours of the wood. Especially the red of the Ironbark.

Well done, the blade looks great. Let us know how the wood holds up.
