Thanked: 60First custom
Got my pheer grinder delivered Friday, spent all day Saturday getting it setup and making my first custom. Learned a lot the first go round and I'm excited for attempt #2. I think I need to temper higher/longer next time because final grinding and honing took FOREVER. It's 1070 steel, 1/4" thick, linen micarta scales, just a hair over 8/8 edge to spine.

Thanked: 60Thanks for all the kind words! I'll add some more photos and details later when not on my phone. Had some trouble drilling the pivot hole (poor planning) and so the blade doesn't center in the scales.

Thanked: 60Made it home from work and snapped a few more photos of different angles. I really have to force the blade inward to get it into the scales at the moment. I'll have to do some troubleshooting for that. I forgot to drill the pivot hole until after the first normalization and it wasn't very flat at that point. As a result, the blade shifted a bit and snapped a drill bit half-way through. Luckily I have a pack of many 1/16" bits (went through a few) and eventually I flipped it over and drilled from the opposite side and hit the same hole. I also made a bit of a vertical curve on the tang/tail area due to an accidental gouge I was trying to remove. I don't mind the look, but I think everything would function/center better on a nice flat tang. I completely forgot the jimping altogether also. Excited for the 2nd go round soon. Anyway, here are some more shots.
