Drew and Sons set
This all started with a nice old ivory and horn brush from Drew and Sons of Piccadilly Circus in London.
As conversing with Martin one day, I mentioned how I would like a razor to go with it. Sure enough, my detective friend soon messaged me that there was a pair up for auction. I watched and bid and won the pair and waited for their arrival from England. They must have been put up with wet tangs at some point as they were fairly badly pitted in that area.
The blades were fine, but one razor had a cracked front scale. I ran a thread on replacing the scale half and replacing the black wedges with ivory ones here: http://straightrazorpalace.com/works...le-halves.html. In addition, lots of sanding on the tangs was necessary, so some pitting remains, not so bad for razors over a century old! Now, the brush has some companions in my collection! Thanks, Martin!
An interesting thread featuring the esteemed Neil Miller and an actual descendant of Mr. Drew sheds great light on the history of this retailer of finer items. http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...ht-razors.html.
Fun project! Kept me busy for a long while!
Thanks for looking!
A before pic.
"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.
