Default My interpretation of the Sheffield Chopper

I've always liked the Sheffield chopper and wanted to make one. But I also wanted it to be a bit more modern, a bit less heavy and slightly more elegant. There are no wild design features on this razor. I wanted to keep it simple and elegant. It's 17/16 in size. Not that that is significant, other than that I wanted to definitely stay above 8/8 because that's the magic number for those big choppers.

To achieve th emore modern look, I decided to bring a notch under the humpback so it would look sleek. And I lifted the barbers notch to right under the spine so the the nub of the spine would be thin. It's ground half hollow, so it is fairly light as well. Oh and it is thumbnail sharp (not yet shaveready). Do you see those bevels? Me neither

The scales are ebony, finished with CA and buffed to a glossy polish. That's also why you see the lines on the scales and near the pivot. After taking the pics I inspected the scales looking for the lines in the picture. Couldn't find them. It's just because the light of the flash catches at certain points on the curved surfaces. The spacer is bleached cow bone.

One of these days. I think I'm going to have to resort to collecting cans for their deposit and maybe afford a Bruno blade before I'm ninety.

Very nice Bruno, I love the slight smile of the edge and matching smile of the spine. Also the ebony scales. Were it a 6/8 I'd jump on it like a kangaroo. (Figuratively speaking)
