Wm Hawcroft and Sons
I have had this blade for a while. A thread on it over a year ago provided some interesting info from some of our fine historians here: http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...ted-steel.html Thanks to Neil, Martin, And Zak!
It was very nice and so I did minimal hand polishing on it. I decided to dress it in these sterling scales from Whiting of New York and completed it a few months ago. I have finally negotiated a deal on this Hawcroft "Razor Maker" ivory container. I have no idea as to it's purpose. Strop paste? Snuff box? It is interesting how it opens and closes. One must twist to open and twist to close (gently!), yet there are no threads! Seems to have a slight 'egg' shape to the areas where it goes together, but cannot be seen!
As some patina has formed on the scales and the container has joined it, I wanted to share it. Hope you like it!

Some more pics. Some think these Sterling scales are heavy! Not the case at all! Stamped from a sheet of silver, they are quite light! Teeters on an SE blade a bit in front of the pivot.
A few more.

Very nice razor. To me, the razor and scales look like we're made for each other.
Interesting little box, too.

Many thanks! One thing I try to accomplish is to do a 'correct' job! (even though it may not be!) Such is the case of this razor. The blade is probably 30 years older than the scales.
Oh well!
Shaun, I appreciate that! Lots of work and sacrifice in my hobby as shown here. Rewarding, to me at least!
I appreciate that, Walter! Means a lot!
Coming from yourself, that means a great deal! Thank you, Sir!
These old pieces of history fascinate me and I truly enjoy working on them and preserving them. The men here who share the history and are like minded are part of the reason why I do.
A great hobby and a fine avenue to share. I truly appreciate all comments on my posts and enjoy each and every member's posts as well! Fun to share stuff!

Phrank stole my word and RoyalCake beat me to the sentiment of that word. So, all I can do now is iterate and say "stunning". I am left almost speechless at how gorgeous that razor is.

Sharptonn, I think you are some kind of Medicine Man of straight razors, or a Brujo....I have never like Sterling scales, and here you are posting another classic. Although I do kind of see a formal table setting with one of these at each plate along side a normal knife just to anticipate the looks on the guests.
