Default Wald 3118 solingen Es-ese Germany restoration

hi there just thought id share my latest project .
i picked up a Wald 3118 razor from a flea market in Germany (paid 5 euro for it ! ).
in pretty decent shape , it has a name with accented letters scribed on one side of handle ...it reads I think ..."Brimfelsk 34"
i assume this was an owner at some point in 1934 perhaps ??
if any one knows the history id love to hear !
anyways it cleaned up really good and was my best shave yet !!
the steel has a slight blue hue to it the patina i guess .

after cleaning i attempted in my own manner to hone it (pats myself on back )
and think i did my best work yet pops hair like a champ!
edge didnt take much work . i went at it with wet and dry sand paper on a sheet of glass starting with p500 grit and progressing up to 2000 . then i swiched to "micro mesh" sheets to go up to 12000
finished on a brown "franz swaty" stone and stropped on a wood backed homemade leather bench strop .

    cheers !

Looks like a nice blade, I like the patina look on it. Sounds like you did a good job honing it up yourself, the proof is always in the shave, so good job! Looks like an 11/16 or so to me. From top of spine to cutting edge is how I measure, some go from cutting edge to where the spine bulges. Either way gets you within 1/16" and I don't fuss over it unless its a big blade.

    C f ern, 1920s-30s perhaps????

Es-Ex. I wish I turned up ERN's efforts at flea markets here, but it doesn't happen.

I have one of those, they are nice shavers, nice uniform edge and good and straight.

My next work trip to Germany, I'm going to ask for Flea Market time as my recreation....

Nice razor. Good idea to keep it minimal. It must shave the part. It looks great!

    MJC...
Totally ! I am sure you will find lots of razors . The market i hit up was in Hannover and there were at least half a dozen i could have bought ... I'm trying not to get into collecting them ( might be a lost cause allready ) .

Yeah i try to just do the minimum , in the future id like to remove pins and be able to clean the whole blade .
I like them still looking kinda old , dont want to remove too much steel !
I need to figure out the best way to clean in the checkering / gymping ?
