Custom rescale
Not sure on who made the custom but the scales were junk...the razor is actually surprisingly nice though...so I rescaled it for Rick Boone. Anywho...enjoy. maybe rick can chime in on the custom razor maker.
Bocote scales finished in carnauba wax.

What do u mean spacer?
You say it will work like there's better or other options. Can you explain, if this is the case, so we can learn? If I'm mistAken and misinterpret what you're meaning, forgive me. Just wanting to get input and insight.http://ashevillewetshavers.weebly.com/ April 26-27th come to one of the greatest meet ups of wet shavers!

Sweet scales! Pixel means that the fat spacer works in lieu of a wedge, but sometimes this is necessary in dealing with wooden scales which will never 'bend' to allow use of a wedge-shaped spacer at the...er,, wedge end! Wood has to be really thin and coaxed into a proper 'bowed' situation to accommodate tangs and blades. Just as Horn, ivory, and bone, not to mention any sort of modern materials. Wood does not want to bend. JMHO!
"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

I made a wedge, it did not work, it has angle, tang is too narrow compared to the front of the tang and did not close correctly....believe me, it didnt work having a smaller wedge believe me i tried...it is a fat wedge, only way it would work.
It is a custom razor, not flawless but the thing shaves like a champ, the grind is good, blade dimensions are good, but the blade cocks sideways slightly after it gets past the tang. Without the wide wedge it would be near impossible to get it to close without catching the blade on the scales, and the blade just wont close because of the dimensions of the tang and the fat part of the shoulder area that wont squeeze in without it being wider towards the wedge and narrower towards the pivot. Pretty sure its under control...it still looks fine, and 10 trillion times better than the scales it came with which were busted.

The wedge had to be made thicker because of issues with the tang. It's narrower than the spine and slightly curved.
I believe this is a piece of carved slate he used for the wedge. or spacer.
Thanks for the comments and feedback.http://ashevillewetshavers.weebly.com/ April 26-27th come to one of the greatest meet ups of wet shavers!

Ahhh.... Thanks for clearing this up.
So when does a wedge become a spacer? I mean...same material may be used...http://ashevillewetshavers.weebly.com/ April 26-27th come to one of the greatest meet ups of wet shavers!
