Fixed blade razor
I love the look of the Japanese kimasori razors and the lewis razor fixed blades. So I had a go at one, no were near the standard of the razors mentioned but I'm still very new at this.
The razor is a sort of chisel grind hollow. It is a very good shaver just a little fiddly to use.
Again I'm still very much in the learning phase so any hints, tip and feedback is very much appreciated.

I suspect from the pics, that the honing angle is too shallow. I have no experience with Japanese grinds, But from the pics I've seen I have the impression that the underside of the blade needs to be thicker, and also not ground all the way up to the spine.

Your absolutely right Bruno, unfortunately I did not realise until it came to honing and the cutting bevel was too wide.
I have since looked up the thread on here about thickness to width ratio. I really like the look of the wider razors and rushed in a little before doing my research. You live and learn, hopefully each one will be better than the last.
Thanks for your input greatly appreciated[emoji106]

Thanked: 203Great work for a first go. You and Bruno covered the thickness/angles.
Another thing that helps is if the handle angles "up" from the spine, rather than straight. Makes it easier to hold and shave.
Craftsmnaship looks great.Respectfully,
Adam.
