9/8 Joseph Rodgers "Dutch Rattler"
This monster came to me for a rescale in something more fitting to the razor. The blade was already a mirror finish so all it needed was a fresh honing.
9/8 Joseph Rodgers "Dutch Rattler"
I used translucent horn for the scales and a brass lined bone wedge. Large domed/bullseye washers finished this one off.

I know that blade
I have to say those scales are much, much nicer. That pair of scales was one of my first I think, many years ago.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

I know the new owner is a huge Joseph Rodgers collector and is quite happy with the blade!
I probably spent way more time than usual on this set of scales, but I wanted to get it perfect to what he envisioned for them.
I actually recently stumbled on some images of my first sets of scales. Oh my! I quickly deleted those horrid images, lol.

That is one amazing razor, the shot at the wedge end is the greatest combination of traditional and individual interpretation of a classic razor. And I really like Bruno's comment on his early scales...also Joe Edson's. It shows the evolution of a craft, a real inspiration showing a journey of 10,000 miles begins with one set of lumpy scales.
