Sarcasm noted! I was wondering there...

As to the razor you have pictured...I certainly concur that the jimps have been ground off and the spine has been altered. Holding my razor at this moment in my hands...I'm not sure if this razor has undergone the same re-construction or not...although it does appear similar. The mis-aligned makers mark theory still holds some weight in my mind, as I have seen many examples of 'stamps' from the past that have been off center, and quite of few of those were stamped lower on the tang (as opposed to higher on the tang like my razor) so the bottom part was barely visible.

IF the blade profile was re-structured as you suggest...it was very professionally done. Your assumption however does appear to have a sound basis.

NOW...I have to go look through my boxes of razors from the period to see what I can see as far as 'humps vs. sharper angles'. DRAT! Another project!
