    Default George Niethamer Boston

A 6/8 hollow ground blade in horn scales with a lead wedge from a Boston maker. He was in business from 1875 - 1895. I was able to save the scales. They are a deep chocolate brown and had silver pins and collars. I lost the collars in disassembly so I replaced them with stacked stainless. I soaked the scales for 3 days in neatsfoot oil, they were pretty dry. Some of the pitting was deeper than I expected but it cleaned up OK. I managed to remember to take before pictures.

That's a very nice, sympathetic restore.
My service is good, fast and cheap. Select any two and discount the third.
