My first restoration
Here is my first restore
Blade is from the Dixie manufacturing co.
Scales are Rosewood with a CA finish polished to 12k grit
Brass pins
the blade was so off center I used two washers to help center
I had learned a lot with still more to learn. For example I would like to learn to pin without having to double washer the blade.A fool flaunts what wisdom he thinks he has, while a wise man will show that he is wise silently.

Can't wait to shave my first restoration for the first time tomorrow. Just finished honing. Test shaved after the 8k and shaved smooth. Then I buttered it up with a 12k, 16k, crox, and stropped. My arm hair just runs away with no resistance

In response to how it shaves, it shaves wonderfully. Probably the best I have had since I started str8 4 months ago.
The first pass (WTG) was like a hot knife through softened butter.
The second pass (XTG) was the same
The third pass (ATG) was still the best I've had but with minor difficulty and I think that is mainly I'm having trouble with my technique on the ATG.
My only complaint I would venture is it was very slightly scratchy which I think led to some of my irritation on the ATG pass. When looking at the edge under 20x I noticed some micro-chips barely able to be seen. Which I don't quite know whether they came from overhoning or not enough honing on the higher grits. Any sudgestions?
Other than that it was a very enjoyable and fun shave.A fool flaunts what wisdom he thinks he has, while a wise man will show that he is wise silently.
