This one was forged from SC145 which is super clean steel, with a 1.45% carbon content. It started out as a 8/8 razor. I tried to do differential het treatment by only quenching half the blade. That worked, but when I dunked the entire razor after the initial quench, the contraction of te spine cracked the edge

So I turned it into a 6/8, removing steel until just after the crack. After it was sent to Glen and back to me, I noticed that one side of the razor, the bevel is cracked where the crack used to be. On the other side, nothing is visiable so I think I stopped a hair too soon with removing metal. However it should be easy to determine by honing it and checking the bevel with a loupe. We'll see how it turns out. If the bevel is clean after honing, all is well.

For the scales I asked Glen to make something in Hunter Orange G10. I don't work G10 myself because I refuse to have such toxic dust in my workshop. Bascially, I was curious about G10. To be honest, I still prefer the touch and feel of kirinite but the only way to find out is to try it
