Default First restoration... Clauss Razor on bloodwood scales.

Hello and thanks for looking! This is my very first straight razor restoration and i think i did a pretty good job, although its not near perfect. Some blemishes you can see at certain angles and edge had some bad pitting and patina.

I bought it from an antique store for $10 along with a bunch others im going to restore. The scales were cracked through so i made my own along with the pinning! They were my very first attempt and turned out pretty good, but once again not perfect. I also honed it and made it shave ready myself with my norton waterstones. Take a look at the before and after!!

My goal is to eventually sell the ones i finish but i also want to keep them and collect them! Also any tips and tricks would be greatly appreciated, im always open to new ideas!

    Nice first restore.
Did you use a wedge or a spacer?

i Made a wedge out of some of the leftover wood. Next time i might try making the scales one solid piece.

Looks good! I like the offset pin at the wedge.

Looks great. You did a lot for a first project. Rounding off the scales can give them a more finished look.

    Cool look and nice finishing.
I'd like also to make some restoration just for fun.
Please can you explain the tools and technique you used with this one for polishing the blade?

I picked me up a dremel with the little disks and got some 5 stage polish, along with some sand paper up to 5k grit. I also used some flitz to remove some of the initial crud and a few other metal polishes to try them out. Next I'm going to try steel wool and blue magic, I've heard some great stuff about them. Mostly just trial and error in what order to do what when, but like I said it was my first one but a lot of fun.

I have several Clauss razors. They are very good shavers. I like to collect them because my grandfather's farm was just outside of Fremont Ohio where they were made

Its one of my favorite ones I've found! There is a lot of putting by the edge though but I did a pretty good job of honing it so it's ready to shave, just a tiny knick in it:/
